It's been to long without a short track build. I have done Ford, Plymouth, Dodge, Willy's, now it's time for a __________.
Just gathering parts right now. As you can see I have some of my favorites. I don't even have the body in hand yet, but that never stopped me before!
The block is from the Revell 68 Vette, kit bash'n and parts scratching to follow.

Well, there it is guys! Another time that this forum shines as the best learning tool out there. James has filled in a blank for me that has been missing with his "measure, cut and glue" mantra. I never knew about that "measure" step! No wonder I burn through so much styrene tubing and channel and stuff!! I always "eyeball, cut and glue"! :slap:  - David

Measure once show off :) With me it is more like Eyeball, measure, measure, eyeball, measure, cut, file, sand, file, glue.
Looking good whatever it is.

Then throw away and try again. I think Evergreen has me on their speed dial. "Good morning Mr. Johnson, are you ready for another shipment?" :(

Statsman and AnotherRic. . .   I think I spend 65% actually building and 35% doing "recovery/repair/re-do's". Razor saw blades, files and cutters are my friends, and putty is my buddy. - David

Being a carpenter by trade, I learned long ago to cut twice measure once. No measure once cut twice, that's not right!
Measure twice cut once. Oh yeah, I cut it twice and it's still to short. Or something like that!

I'd bet you are not on whatshername's list.

By the way, why don't you design your own body :?:  1934 J2 coupe.

I have all the makings of a 1/16 modified, except a body. I am going to try to create one, if I ever get that far. Holding it to last, to try to match that Plus Size to my diminishing skills and eye sight.

Well, why not build a modified Deloreon, I'm building one out of the "Back to the future" snap kit body. Although you probably would do something weird, like finish the build. TTYL.

Well I'm still searching for the right body!
I did manage to mock up a few things. ASA "A" arms and spindles, lengthened rear axle, BB Chev with some PB pieces and FRW M/T valve covers.
I need to widen the rear frame section for the springs but that should be easy enough. So until next time....

Tonight I was going to start rebuilding the engine in my bike, but thought I would mow first. I'm on my third mower in 6 yr! Started cutting and then discovered a fuel leak :x !!!!
So pulled the tank went to get some new line in the shed and...................noth'n! Took a long look at the bike and headed straight for the bench, where I did this instead.
Using a 39 Chevy Coupe 1/24 scale. It needs to be smaller.
Remember, measure, cut glue. I only scribe the cut to begin. Then cut through slowly along the length of each cut line.
ImageImageImageImage
Once that is done it all falls apart.

Now I tape things together and give it a little test fit. Looks like a cut down 1/25 scale. I'll need to adjust window openings but I think it will work.
What do you think?
I guess the cat is out of the bag now, it's a Chevy!

I'm thinking pretty cool. I like it when someone (like you) shows how they do things. It certainly helps me on my projects....

James, this is going to be a beauty. I appreciate you posting all the steps included in this build. I like when the builder tells us what frame and what parts are being used on the build. I always learn something from all of these tips.
